"Why? Why? Why?
You just inexplicably transformed something joyfully simple into a tedious and time-consuming exercise -

why did you that?"

Because they can! It must be fun reading all of these comments for the past several months and then just go ahead and make a frigging mess of it all anyway. Most of us think that this unfriendly change is the shitz to put it lightly. You're lucky to find a handful of listings, for artists with dozens and hundreds of listings before. Everything is OUT OF ORDER like that etree bit torrent page...

Not so much threatened as mentioned. The old way of browsing was a "read only" view that could not be updated as new filesets were added to the LMA, so the expectation was that it would be phased out eventually.

As noted below, browse-by-year has been implemented on the band collection pages and they are continuing to work on it. Just go to a band's collection page and click on "Browse by year" - the link should be formatted something like this:

http://www.archive.org/browse.php?collection=BandNameHere&field=%2Fmetadata%2Fyear

Right, as the collection has now progressed for over a month more in the new system, we were starting to see more reports of, "Hey, why aren't there any new shows listed for my band?" because people had the old, mummified browse page bookmarked.

BTW To Deadheads who think it doesn't matter because there "aren't any new filesets" for the only band they seem to care about, that would be an incorrect assumption, eg

Exactly - I didn't mean "threatened" in the sense of a threat someone makes agaisnt someone else. I meant it along the lines of "the skies are threatening rain". In other words, the change was on the horizon.

It sounds like efforts are indeed in place to make things more user friendly as things move along. Thanks to Brad, Diana, et al for keeping us updated! Hopefully, the new site will ultimately run smoothly for uploaders and downloaders alike, even with corn syrup!
